America’s Promise
Summit Evaluation

America’s Promise Summit Evaluation report presents information from two sources: the conveners and local partners who planned the event, and those who attended the summit.
The Columbus summit convener reported highlights from the event, including the following:
• Key stakeholders such as the president of the local United Way, district superintendent, and representatives from the Mayor's office and the U.S. Department of Education spoke at the summit.
• A panel discussion addressed topics such as: policies that keep students in school and engaging parents in the dropout conversation.
• Breakout sessions in six areas started the conversation around action plan development.

Summit Quality and Information

Dropout Prevention Summit attendees were asked to rate overall summit quality as well as the usefulness of the materials and information presented. Of those Columbus participants who responded to the survey, 92% said the summit was “excellent” or “very good.” An additional 7% reported that the summit was “average.” Only 1% said that the summit quality was “poor”.

When asked about specific aspects of summit quality, 96% reported that they learned something new and useful about the local dropout problem, 92% said that they learned of new local initiatives, and 92% said the conference materials provided valuable information.
